Care & Repairs

Day-to-day care

Your Doublemoss Jewelry is precious and requires care and attention. We recommend these considerations to preserve the condition of your jewelry as long as possible:

  • Always handle your jewelry with care. Especially items with gemstones.
  • Remove your jewelry when washing your hands or using corrosive products that could permanently damage precious metal, stones or pearls.
  • Take your regular activities into consideration when wearing your jewelery, including potential for impact.
  • Keep your jewelry away from intense sources of heat and extreme temperature changes.

We suggest that you frequently use these precautionary measures to ensure your jewelry is ready to wear each time you choose to wear it:

  • Prior to putting on your jewelry examine it for a moment looking especially to the function of any clasps or mechanisms.
  • Check that the settings of stones have not moved, or been damaged during use
  • Feel any prong settings for sharp edges by rubbing them very gently on a thin soft cloth, if the prong catches on the cloth it may no longer be securing the stone
  • If you are in the slightest doubt it is advisable not to wear your jewelry and have it inspected by a reputable jeweler or contact Doublemoss support for repairs.

Maintaining your jewelry

We suggest in order to keep your jewelry maintained that you clean it regularly. If you jewelry contains pearls, emeralds or a significant cluster of any type of gemstones the task of cleaning should be done by a specialist only. We recommend using a trusted professional jeweler in your locale.

If your jewelry does not include these types of stones, you can carry out regular cleaning yourself.

  • Fill a vessel with lukewarm soapy water. Use a natural dish soap (such as plant based) that is free from harsh detergents.
  • Using an extremely soft brush (such as a natural horse hair brush) dip the brush in the water and gently brush the jewelry.
  • Rinse your jewelry in lukewarm water.
  • Dry your jewelry using a non abrasive soft plush cloth. Ensure the cloth is clean from debris, or solvents.

Once every year we recommend having your jewelry inspected and professionally cleaned by a reputable jeweler.

Storing your jewelry

Jewelry becomes scratched when they come into contact with one another. Our Doublemoss plush velvet boxes allow you to store your jewelry individually allowing them to preserve their pristine condition.

We strongly advise you not to store several pieces of jewelry together or in contact with one another.
